Sea Salt, Coarse
This Atlantic sea salt is harvested off the coast of Brazil. It is collected in a mangrove area with a special ecosystem including indigenous plants and shellfish that naturally remove undesirable elements from the water. Then, the salt water is captured in retention ponds and allowed to evaporate by means of sun and wind. During the process a salt bed forms on the bottom of the pond. The salt is harvested, washed & screened. The typical salt crop takes 3-5 years to produce.
