RMCHS Programming

Herbal Theory Days
One Saturday a month
These lecture & discussion style classes will include anatomy, common acute and chronic issues, 10-20 featured herbs, and interactive Q&A. By engaging in sensory exploration, empirical observation, drawing from scientific knowledge, respecting traditional use, and tapping into intuition, we will develop a profound understanding of these plant medicines, empowering you to use plants creatively and effectively.

Medicine Making Days
One Sunday a month
We will blend theoretical herbal knowledge with hands-on application learning the art of crafting potent high-quality plant medicines and botanical body care through various traditional herbal methods. Each participant will leave with a custom collection of the medicines created during class ready to stock their personal apothecary.

Field Excursions, Harvesting & Garden Days
Two Tuesday evenings a month
We will embark together on trail excursions through wild landscapes, get our hands in the dirt, and harvest fresh plant material for medicine-making both in the wild and in the garden. We will immerse ourselves in nature to connect with the diverse array of local, cultivated, edible and medicinal plants, traveling within a local range to where the plants are in season.

Seasonal Ritual
In alignment with solstice and equinox rhythms
Drawing upon tradition and the current needs of our community, we will engage in simple, accessible, earth-based rituals that embrace elemental and seasonal energies to navigate the shifting landscapes of our lives. With a focus on personal and plant relationships, we aim to foster connections with plant allies and land. We will co-create a tapestry of rituals to deepen our sense of connection and authenticity in our personal and communal lives.

School Policies
While attending or working for the school, we require that all participants maintain respectful conduct toward one another. This includes utilizing polite communication and maintaining high regard for one another's personal and physical boundaries.
We respect and are grateful for the planet and its natural resources, always striving to meet and improve upon leave-no-trace practices when in wild spaces. All participants are required to meet these standards to the best of their ability while attending the school.
The school maintains a one-in-ten wildcrafting guideline and will refrain from wildcrafting of any amount if a plant population appears sparse. Participants will follow the lead of the plant population and the Instructor's experience when assessing a given area.
School Mission
Our mission is to empower students with the skills and wisdom needed to support their families and loved ones with plant medicine, so that together we can build more resilient and sustainable communities that function in harmony with the Earth and all living beings.
We are dedicated to sharing herbal knowledge and wisdom handed down to us from our teachers and mentors, including the plants themselves.
Our teachings draw primarily from Western Herbalism, the Vitalist Tradition, and Earth-based traditions. Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicines are touched upon as a compliment to the core curriculum.
Land Use Statement: The Rocky Mountain Community Herbalism School acknowledges the original and continued presence of Indigenous people on the land where the school is located, and in the surrounding areas where classes will be held and plants may be wildcrafted. We honor all native peoples associated with the Boulder area, including but not limited to the Arapaho and the Ute. We affirm their ancestral ties to these lands and recognize the devastation of their forced removal from these lands. When we conduct classes for the furtherance of our knowledge, we honor and recognize that we are benefiting from the original knowledge of the people who have lived here before us and continue to live here now.
